Katee, Joshua, Twitch & Courtney Keep Hittin' It

Katee Shean, So You Think You Can Dance: Season 4 FOX

The guys may have been running on fumes, but it was full steam ahead nonetheless.

Joshua Allen and Stephen "Twitch" Boss, neither of whom has any formal training and both of whom needed a weekend hospital visit to treat dehydration, joined fellow finalists Courtney Galiano and Katee Shean for the first night of So You Think You Can Dance's two-part finale and…

Well, if we knew exactly how to spell that sound Mary Murphy makes when she's super excited—that's how we would describe it.

The fab foursome performed five dances apiece, including a solo and a contemporary group number choreographed by Mia Michaels (and costumed by Braveheart), and kept—as they say in hip-hop speak—hittin' it all night.

Hills Neighbor Not Shopping His Own Series

The Hills Steven Lippman/MTV

With all this media coverage of the noisy dent Lauren Conrad and her roomies are making in their cozy Hollywood Hills enclave, a number of neighbors have also been getting more time in the spotlight than usual.

But E! News has exclusively confirmed that Hills-side neighbor and The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll producer Steven Antin is not shopping a reality show about what it's like to bed down a few houses away from L.C., Lauren "Lo" Bosworth and Audrina Patridge.

Thank goodness.

A Big, Warm Howdy to the Newest Nashville Star

Melissa Lawson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Nashville Star NBC

Melissa Lawson has something to write home about.

The 32-year-old mother of five was crowned the winner of the sixth season of Nashville Star, which was also the country-music competition's first cycle on NBC.

Barely holding back tears of joy, Lawson capped off her triumphant night by singing what will become her first single, the uplifting "What If It All Goes Right," produced by Big & Rich's John Rich.

For her clear-as-a-bell efforts, Lawson, who beat out fellow native Texan Gabe Garcia in the finale's dwindling moments Monday, gets a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records.

She has also secured herself some face time at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she'll perform live Aug. 12. Her appearance will be featured on the Today show.

Dehydration Dampens SYTYCD Rehearsal: Two Finalists Hospitalized

So You Think You Can Dance: Stephen 'Twitch' Boss, Katee Shean, Courtney Galiano, Joshua Allen Kelsey McNeal/FOX

The show will go on, but under what circumstances?

E! News has confirmed that two of the four finalists who are preparing to get down as they've never gotten down before on this week's So You Think You Can Dance finale were hospitalized over the weekend after collapsing during rehearsal.

It was reportedly the two remaining guys—Joshua Allen and Stephen "Twitch" Boss—who required medical care Saturday, according to Us Weekly. They were treated for dehydration and released the same day and are expected to be more than ready to partner up with and face off against Courtney Galiano and Katee Shean on Wednesday.

Fox has yet to issue a statement, but the beans were spilled when judge Mary Murphy told People last night at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards that two of the contestants were rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by ambulance on Saturday.

Nigel Lythgoe Mathew Imaging/Getty Images

Nigel Lythgoe is striking before the iron cools off.

The American Idol executive producer, who flashes his extremely pearly whites in front of the camera as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, announced he's leaving the über-successful singing competition, which is heading into its eighth season on a ratings downswing despite still being the most watched show on TV.

"I will step back from my day-to-day producing work on American Idol and will be devoting my time" to a new development venture with 19 Entertainment head and fellow Idol mastermind Simon Fuller, Lythgoe said in a statement obtained Monday by E! News.

"Due to the huge success of So You Think You Can Dance, my summer will be taken up by travels to South Africa, Australia and Canada to work on local versions of the show," the 59-year-old former dancer-choreographer said.

More from Marc Malkin

Will Lance Bass be a contestant on the next season of Dancing With the Stars? And if so, will he have a male dancing partner?

Veteran DWTS professional hoofer Cheryl Burke says she'd love to see the former boy-band singer on the show, but she predicts we won't be seeing same-sex footwork anytime soon.

"I don't think that would happen," Burke said at Maxim magazine's Extreme Sports party last night at the Stork in Hollywood. "I don't think America is ready to watch two men dancing."

However, gay media watchdog group GLAAD thinks ABC could decide to go there, because the network has a good history of pushing the man-on-man envelope. “ABC has shown an admirable commitment to representing gay people on many of their most popular shows," a GLAAD rep said in a statement, "and we hope they continue to build on that in the future.”
