Lindsay Lohan is hoping a tragedy will bring her family together.

Richard Lohan, Lindsay's paternal grandfather, died Thursday after a battle with colon cancer, which, according to Michael Lohan, has prompted a truce in the battle between father and daughter that escalated this week.

"I was holding him, laying in bed with him, when he died," Michael Lohan tells E! News.

"Lindsay did reach out to me. She sent me a message this morning. She said, 'Now papa has found peace and maybe we can find peace in our lives, too.' "

The Dave Matthews Band brass has been silenced.

Saxophonist LeRoi Moore, one of the founding members of the Virginia-based jam band, died Tuesday afternoon at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, E! News has confirmed. He was 46.

Exact cause of death is unknown, but it was due to complications from critical injuries that Moore sustained in a June 30 ATV crash on his farm near Charlottesville, Va.

Moore, who suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs at the time, had not performed with DMB since his accident, but had returned to L.A.—where the band is performing tonight at Staples Center—to begin an "intensive physical rehabilitation program," according to a statement released by DMB.

After opening tonight's show with "Bartender," Dave Matthews quieted the audience and informed them that "our good friend LeRoi Moore" had passed away.

"He gave up his ghost to heaven and we will miss him always," the singer said.

Appreciation: A Low(er)-Key Elvis Anniversary

Elvis Presley AP Photo

As anniversary years go, the 31st doesn't have the cachet of a 30th, even at Graceland, where the crowd gathering to commemorate Elvis Presley's death was expected to be perhaps less than half of last year's record turnout.

"But it's still an incredible event, having 30,000 people for a candlelight vigil," says Kevin Kern of Elvis Presley Enterprises.

The candlelight vigil, long the emotional highlight of the Memphis, Tenn., tradition known as Elvis Week, was set for Friday night.

This year's Elvis Week, which commenced last Saturday, has consisted of the usual: fan convention; meets-and-greets with former Elvis friends and costars; postvigil spaghetti dinner and more. Today will find fans gathering for a midday memorial service at the University of Memphis.
